Mission Statement

International Society for Civil Liberties & Rule of Law is independent and not-for-profit human rights, democracy, rule of law and security and safety advocacy group advocating for and defending the rights of the people within and beyond the shores of Nigeria. This we do irrespective of the victim or his or her victimized group’s tribe, religion, gender, age, color, status or class. We factually and consistently investigate rights abuses and violations, especially those involving crimes against humanity, war crimes, genocide and other internationally prohibited acts including torture and other inhuman treatments; expose them widely including their perpetrators and pressure those with power to respect and protect rights and secure justice for the victims and against the perpetrators to do so without excuses. We also ensure, through our campaigns that victims of rights abuses and violations are restored back to the conditions they were before their rights were brutally trampled upon. We support and promote democracy and good governance including leadership accountability and rule of law. Because of importance attached to security and safety, we monitor their provision and enforcement by state actors to ensure that they do not become monstrous and instruments for grisly rights abuses and violations. Our work is guided by international and regional human rights and humanitarian laws and norms, those modern time and human rights compliant laws put in place in Nigeria and respect for the dignity of each human being.
